Packing for Southeast Asia

So I'm leaving for a 3 week trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam in a few days, Hell yeah! This should be more relaxing than the Nepal trip that I took last year, which was also alot of fun, but very challenging physically.

I got a new backpack from Ebay for my travels; the Deuter Futura 42. It's gonna be filled with "ropa basura", that way I can carry less weight and have room for souvenirs as the trip goes by. I hope I can carry it on the plane....we'll see.

My three partners in crime for this trip are some great friends. I have traveled with them at some point in the past, but this is the first time all of us are traveling together outside the US. No bromance in this trip, all females, except me! Not sure if that's good or bad...we'll see :) .

Jill

Jill can count 1-10 in Thai! That will help in our bargaining skills when shopping. Jill likes to sample many different Asian foods in one sitting, kinda like ordering tapas. She's also down for spicy foods, so watch out when ordering with her!

Jill brings a very mellow, Portland style attitude, but is also down for strip clubs, unnecessary drinking, and being extra flirty when inebriated.

Vicky
Pharmacist extraordinare. She basically has every drug available if you're sick. Vicky can speak Taiwanese and very bad spanish, haha! I think my spanglish is better.

Not sure why they call her "porkchop". There's a story behind the nickname, but I forgot. Anyways, Vicky can hold her own with drinking at times, although she did fail in Austin a few years back. First time I got to visit a women's bathroom.

Yin
Trip planning partner. She pretty much can't sit still and has high energy all day long. She'll keep us on point if we stray too far from the plan. When it comes time to crash, she can fall asleep on a dime.

Yin has an East Coast attitude with a West Coast flair for fun. Kinda like ying and yang, a good balance of the two.

That's all for now, see you in Bangkok.
